Deportivo Galicia avoided defeat against Indian Gymkhana on Saturday, a difficult game for DGL, where they were trailing for a big part of the game.

Indian Gymkhana came out and gave it their all from the get-go, both teams had great chances to put them in the lead, for DGL it was the lack of precision in the final metres that kept them from scoring, while for IG it was Manu keeping the tie levelled.

It was a very intense first half, but ultimately the home team would get the first goal, the dying minutes of the first half there was a clear IG dominance, they had a chances to double and even triple the lead.

Bad news as Shane went off injured at half time, bad news for our number 7 as he will most likely miss next week’s fixture against his former side Pittshanger Dynamo.

The team perked up in the second half, they showed they wanted the goal and surely enough when you want something that bad, you get it: a corner taken by Antón, the ball put away by Tes.

In the final minutes DGL had various chances to score the winner, most notably Felipe’s mis-timed pass to Gill.

After the game manager Leo Decabo was critical about his team’s performance: “The plan that we had at the start of the game, we didn’t follow it at all” he also felt like he was “talking to the opposition” as the plan they had “was being inflicted on us”.

However he praised his team’s efforts to come back in the second half “we didn’t panic, we came back, battled hard” he also pointed out that the team once again scored from a corner. All in all, Decabo is happy with the draw “a point, that’s good, not gonna complain”.

DGL are still second in the Middlesex County League Premier Division, 10 points from leaders FC Assyria, with 5 games in hand.
