Weekend Round Up 7/1/2017

Hillingdon FC (1-2) DGL1

Following the long Xmas and New Year break this game was a potential unknown in terms of how the players would respond. With only 1 training session in all that time (mistake) and excesses of booze and food we were hoping the lads would come back as focused as they left it.

It was a pretty sedate start to the game by both sides with the only real excitement supplied by Stephan on the right wing, who in the 21st minute bagged his goal with a mesmerising run. Produced a couple of step overs left the defenders on their butts before slotting away a very fine goal. A great solo effort.

The second came on 39 minutes from Neko Dolce coming back from injury who found himself in the right place at the right time from a Tes Tone lay off, but once again some great work from MOM Stephan down the wing. 2-0 at half time.

The second half turned into more of a scrap and a battle. Hillingdon manged to get one back on 56 minutes courtesy of an own goal which suddenly gave them that little extra to take the game to us. In the main we held out well until Chema Rios Conceiro’s 15 yard slide tackle with boots and everything else up in the air, including player. Being his second yellow for previously “Robocopping” the Hillingdon striker in the 1st half the ref had no option but to send him off!!

Generally you would imagine that all your players would be aware that a team mate has been sent off but we’re blessed with Mo “I’m always right” Turay who wasn’t aware of this fact. This made the last 20 minutes a battle but in the end we rode the storm. lol

Extremely happy with the result and the effort the lads put in after the long break.

Our table position remains positive and on track as we look to continue our unbeaten league run on Saturday when we entertain CB Hounslow Res FC at home.

With the main pitch being upgraded to the latest 3g offering we shall be playing the game behind the stadium. An earlier kick off will be needed of 14:00 as no floodlights will be available. Would be nice to see some of you come down and support the lads.
